The archipelago of poets
At the tip of the Gulf of Ajaccio, inn the extention of the Parata, unveils an archipelago of four classified Natura 2000 islands and a haven of peace for many specied endemic to Corsica and for rare and protected plants.This archipelago of Sanguinaires islands is part of the natural and cultural heritage of Ajaccio and more broadly throughout Corsica.
Its rich and famous architecture provides a real spectacle to all visitors who come each year, at first glance, the peninsula of Parata and tits Genoese tower from the 16th century, built in order to protect the city of Ajaccio.
Mezu Mare, Largest island of the archipelago, accesible only by boat, where we discover the Alphonse Daudet lighthouse, was built in the 19th century. It's the highest point of the Island. The Island also have a Semaphorebuilt in the early 1800s and the remain of a former Lazaretto, once used by sailors returning from their travels.
